The National Theatre are looking to offer free voice classes for Deaf, Disabled and Neurodiverse actors, focusing particularly on those who have not had access to traditional voice training through Drama Schools or similar institutions.
We would like to address this imbalance and offer a regular, comprehensive voice training that will give actors the chance to fulfil their vocal potential. Actors will have the opportunity to build technique to perform on stages both big and small with confidence in the range, expressiveness and clarity of their voice. These drop-in classes will be held at the National Theatre, free of charge, and each class will be run by two teaching professionals.
The first six months of classes are part of a pilot scheme to find out what is needed for the development of this project and what works. If classes become over-subscribed, we will implement a ramdomised selection process, and place people on a waiting list.
If you are interested in joining the classes, please email voice@nationaltheatre.org.uk to request an Expression of Interest form or to get more information.
Applications should be returned by Wednesday 7th September. We’re aware that not everyone will be able to meet the deadline, so please still get in touch if you are interested but will need to submit your application at a later date.
